Make your day sweeter!

Here’s another trick when craving for sweets. I love my key lime pie but can’t always have it so I reach out for my gum! With only 5 calories and 2 carbs per stick you can’t go wrong. They also have other flavors like strawberry shortcake.

This saturday I will be participating in the ALS 10K (6.2 miles) in Coconut Grove. This will be my first running race since March. I have not done much running lately since I have tried to get back into triathlon training. I will take this opportunity to try to get my running back. Just a fun event with some great people!

Green Tea

In the past few months I have tried to cut out any processed food I may be consuming. This includes artificial sweeteners and creamers. My morning cup of coffee contained more creamers than coffee and I added six packets of Splenda, yup 6, you have read correctly! This is why I wanted to make a change.

I am now at the point where I only drink my coffee with skim milk and no sugar or sweetener. I also bought this tea to give a try to sometimes exchange it for coffee. To my surprise, I love this tea! Sometimes I add a teaspoon of organic honey and that’s it! When in the mood I add a little milk. Today, as I fight a cold, nothing made me feel better than that warm cup of tea with honey. I’m happy to report that I have been sweetener/creamers free for the past 3 months! Hahaha…

Sweet cravings

Everyday after my meals I crave something sweet. I usually satisfy my cravings with a yogurt but once in a while I have a little treat. Dark chocolate is the way to go. Make sure it has at least 60% Cacao. It’s the healthiest little treat you can have. I just got me a bag!! 🙂


Sunday Bike Ride

Last week I found the courage to sign up with a triathlon group. This group has different workouts throughout the week and anyone is welcome to go as they please. Wether it is to swim, bike or run. In my case I was looking for a group to ride bike with. I already swim 2-3 times a week at my local gym. I run on my own or at boot camp class but I had no one to ride bike with. Because I’m too scared to go out on my own, the bike part of my triathlon was suffering.

My first opportunity to join this group was today. I was so nervous that I had thought about it since a week ago. I have never ridden further than 20 miles on the bike and I knew this group would go for more. Well, Sunday morning came and I thought of any excuse possible for me not to go. I knew that if I didn’t go I would feel terribly guilty and would never get over my fear of riding my bike out on the street.

I got it together and got ready. Praying on my way to meet up with the group! Hahaha… Those who ride bike know how nasty Miami drivers are! I arrived at the meeting place and the girls from the group I would be riding with were expecting me. Very friendly people who made me feel more comfortable. We started out in Pinecrest Gardens and rode south of Black Point marina and back. For a total of about 30 miles.

I was so proud of myself for having done that ride that I actually got home and did a “happy dance”. I will continue to ride every Sunday and hopefully get better and most important feel more comfortable on the bike when riding along with cars.
